No doubt about it but that a pool can, in a matter of just a couple of days, transform what was an ordinary backyard into an aquatic summertime playground. So as above ground pools become ever more affordable and popular, an ever increasing number of people worldwide are experiencing this amazing backyard transformation.

For the first timer though, shopping for and selecting out all that they need to get started can be more than a bit overwhelming at first. So many new names & terms and just so many decisions to make with regards to filters, pumps, systems, etc. However; the fact is that with a little knowledge under your belt, choosing what is best for you and your family can be just so much easier.

Round Pools Are the Most Popular

As an example, to start with, above ground pools come in two basic shapes and those would be round and oval. Both of these shapes are available in a wide variety of sizes and dimensions but the most popular of them all is the round pool, 24 foot across. Even so, round pools are easily found in sizes of 12 and 20 feet.

Oval pools on the other hand, begin at 12 X 20 and 12 X 24, which are the most common choices, but they also can be readily found as large as 21 X 41 feet. Choosing a Place for Your Pool

Now when scouting your backyard or grounds out for a location to place your pool, there are a few things that you'll want to keep in mind. For instance, sun is a plus. It warms the pools water and of course it's great to lay in. However; one thing that you may not have considered is that trees and shrubbery close to above ground pools is a recipe for cleaning problems. Also make a point of avoiding any power lines or phone poles.
